Our protocol
What we test, and when
- Our foundation dogs are AKC and CKC registered.
- Every parent is Embark DNA tested, and we run the AKC DNA Program Plus Health Kit — 201 genetic identity markers and 328 health and trait markers.
- We work with veterinary specialists in ophthalmology, orthopedics, and reproduction.
- Preliminary hip and elbow x-rays are done at one year of age.
- Full testing follows at two years: thyroid, cardiac, hips, elbows, and patellas.
If at any time we feel that one of our foundation dogs is showing us, for any reason, that he or she should not be breeding, we promptly remove them from our program.
